The promise of First Nations leadership in the clean energy transition was a key focus at the First Nations Clean Energy Symposium, held last week in Adelaide. With a focus on partnering with Traditional Owners for the green economy.

Over two days Jade Ritchie, our General Manager Business Development, joined business leaders, policy makers, Traditional Owners and First Nations representatives as they considered the facilitating role First Nations community can play in sustainable development.

Tellus understands the importance of Traditional Owners and First Nations’ central role in the transition to a green economy. Tellus’ partnership with the Marlinyu Ghoorlie Traditional Owners in Western Australia, where our Sandy Ridge hazardous waste facility operates, supports our shared goal of ‘cleaning up country’. Near Alice Springs, where the Titjikala Native Title party have given their support for our Chandler multi-national geological repository project, we know genuine and trusting relationships are the foundation of strong partnerships and our success.

“The clean energy transition will be challenging, but building trust between project proponents and First Nations communities will ease the way forward. Indigenous Australians want to be a part of a bright economic future – and we need to find new ways to make that happen,”.
