Today, compounds, like vanadium pentoxide, are workhorses in industrial processes, as a catalyst in the production of sulfuric acid and in the oxidation of hydrocarbons. Its reach extends far beyond its industrial applications. Vanadium is a key player in rechargeable batteries and critical in forming ferroalloys used in aerospace materials.
However, it’s not without its risks. At high concentrations, vanadium can be toxic. Vanadium pentoxide can cause respiratory issues in humans and animals.
