Inspired by the diamond-shaped pattern of our iconic Sandy Ridge air dome, and as a nod to the Latin meaning of ‘Tellus’ – the earth – the new Tellus logo mark symbolises our protection of the planet.
Australia is transitioning to a green economy. Yet countless sites contain hazardous old industry waste and nearly every form of green tech continues to create large volumes of challenging waste, including solar, wind, hydro and even critical minerals for electric cars.
From our genesis as a waste solution for Australia’s hazardous waste, Tellus is evolving to become a company providing advance end-to-end solutions for managing the world’s most challenging hazardous materials.
We’ve come a long way since our founding in 2009, and especially since the opening of Sandy Ridge – Australia’s only operational geological repository for hazardous waste, in 2021.
In the past 18 months alone, the milestones have been significant:
- Sandy Ridge received Australia’s sole license to dispose of low-level-radioactive waste.
- Tellus secured support from the Titjikala Native Title group for our Chandler project in the Northern Territory.
- We reached the milestone of accepting the first 100,000 tonnes of hazardous materials through the gate at Sandy Ridge.
- And we have permanently disposed of 6,000 tonnes of low-level radioactive waste.
These milestones are significant, not just for their own sake, but because they testify to our role in cleaning up our environment and enabling a clean energy future.
Tellus enables Australian businesses to safely and sustainably start-up, scale-up, clean up and drive circular economy innovations for the new green economy – and the clean energy transition. To reflect this evolution, we have refreshed our branding.
