The writing’s on the wall for hazardous waste in Australia…
At Tellus, we’re passionate about solving the toughest sustainability challenges for Australia’s clean energy transition. When we have the opportunity, we love to share what we’ve built at Sandy Ridge, an Australian first.
Last week, we hosted Queensland Senator Susan McDonald, Shadow Minister for Resources and Northern Australia.
Senator McDonald had the opportunity to see for herself how Tellus is enabling the clean energy transition right here in WA providing Australia’s safest solution to our national radioactive waste challenge and to hear how we can help support AUKUS for generations to come.
In the last year alone, we’ve taken nearly 6,000 cubic metres of low-level radioactive waste from all over mainland Australia. In addition to that, we’ve disposed of tens of thousands of tonnes of hazardous chemical waste from mine sites, industrial projects, local neighbourhoods and from delicate ecosystems, all for permanent disposal in our geological repository.
With critical minerals such a crucial part of the global clean energy transition, we were pleased to share how we can work with companies to responsibly manage hazardous radiological by-products from rare earths processing, our foundational role in safe waste management for oil and gas decommissioning, and how we’re helping Australia achieve its hazardous waste and environmental policies.
Thanks for joining us, Susan.
