Australia is transitioning to a greener economy. Everyone is playing their part, decarbonising operations by investing in renewable technologies.
At Tellus we are committed to enabling more sustainable and circular solutions for hazardous waste in the clean energy transition. Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond our waste solutions – it guides how we operate. For example, our unique Sandy Ridge facility is 100 per cent solar powered during daylight hours.
Operating since 2020, our microgrid was designed and delivered by our partner Pacific Energy, a proud Western Australian company. This made Sandy Ridge the first ‘mine site’ in Australia to be fully powered by the sun during daylight hours. In 2023 Pacific Energy was recognised for the Sandy Ridge microgrid project and was awarded the National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) Green Energy Excellence Award for Western Australia.
It’s making a difference. Since November 2020, solar production of electricity at our remote facility has saved more than 937,000 litres of diesel, and reduced our carbon emissions by more than 2,623 tonnes.
Decarbonising operations with our Sandy Ridge microgrid is another way Tellus is safeguarding your green future.
