A major milestone for Tellus’ Sandy Ridge Kaolin project.
Tellus has finalised an agreement with global commodities leader Traxys Group to bring high-grade wet refined kaolin from our Sandy Ridge Facility in WA to the international ceramic manufacturing market.
Under this agreement, we will complete a feasibility study to support production of up to 100,000 tonnes per annum of kaolin tailored for premium ceramic applications – from porcelain ware to sanitaryware and tiles.
Why it matters:
- Sandy Ridge is one of Australia’s largest kaolin deposits, with 51.3Mt in indicated and inferred categories, and over 300Mt as an exploration target.
- Our kaolin is a by-product of our waste management operations, offering a sustainable path to mineral recovery.
- With existing infrastructure and backhaul connectivity to export ports, we’re well-positioned to serve growing global demand.
Kaolin is critical to industries beyond ceramics – used in paints, plastics, cosmetics, bricks and more. The global kaolin market is now worth US$4.5 billion+, with a projected CAGR of 5.3% in coming years.
This partnership marks a strategic step forward in unlocking the full potential of Sandy Ridge as a dual-purpose asset – supporting both the circular economy and Australia’s role in critical minerals
