Tellus supports Darwin bid to host the 2032 IRPA 18th International Congress

Is the Olympics of Radiation Protection coming to Darwin?

The Australasian Radiation Protection Society (ARPS) is bidding for Australia to host the 2032 INTERNATIONAL RADIATION PROTECTION ASSOCIATION (IRPA) 18th International Congress.

Tellus joins ANSTO, Australian Radiation Protection And Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA), Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, Radsol, SA Radiation, Safe Radiation, BHP, MES, Sieverts Radiation Consultancy, Leishman Associates and the Northern Territory Government in sponsoring the ARPS bid.

Tellus’ very own Annelize Van Rooyen is a member of the ARPS National Executive, while our Robert Blackley is Treasurer for ARPS’ NSW branch.

IRPA is an international association to promote the highest levels of ethical behaviour and encourage the application of radiation protection expertise and knowledge for the benefit of society.

Every four years one country hosts the IRPA General Assembly.

Australia’s northern capital Darwin has been proposed as the ideal place to host the IRPA General Assembly in 2032. Renowned for some of Australia’s most iconic landscapes and nature-based experiences, the Northern Territory has rich cultural heritage dating back 65,000 years.

As well as providing a true Australian experience for international guests, the 2032 conference will focus on turning theory into practice to enhance protection using pragmatic solutions for future generations.

Tellus has a strong connection with the Northern Territory, through our Chandler deep geological project and relationship with the Titjikala Native Title party near Alice Springs.

With China, Brazil, and Malaysia also competing, Tellus wishes the ARPS ambassadors success presenting the bid to the IRPA General Assembly in Orlando, Florida next week.
